Expertise:
Over 10 years experience as a biogeochemist studying the energy and material fluxes through ecosystems. Algal biodiesel research includes the selection of favorable species; the farming of algae at large scales and combined with wastewater remediation and carbon sequestration; algal harvest; the conversion of algae to fuel; and economic and energy assessments of the above. Broader biogeochemical work spans the following: detailing the chemical character of organic matter; relating organic matter reactivity, structure, source and history; assessing how carbon-stores will respond to perturbation; improved quantification of carbon fluxes.
