Dr. Paul Bukaveckas is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Virginia Commonwealth University and holds a joint appointment with the Center for Environmental Studies. He received his PhD from Indiana University in 1989 and a Bachelor of Science degree from DePaul University in 1981. His area of expertise is Aquatic Ecology with a focus on factors controlling algal production in rivers, impoundments, lakes and estuaries. Publications arising from this work include 35 peer-reviewed journal articles and two book chapters. He is the recent author of the chapter on Rivers for the Encyclopedia of Inland Waters. Current work focuses on studies of the James River and its tributary streams.
