Gordon's training is in microbiology with emphasis on microbial ecology and marine microbiology. His research experience includes biofouling, metal/microbe interactions, algal toxins, and scale-up of algal culture. His work has been funded by agencies including ONR, NSF, NIH, CDC, and NOAA.
