I am currently interested in evaluating the sustainability of large-scale algae cultivation systems and low cost conversion into energy carriers. I am especially interested in the intersection of algae cultivation and wastewater treatment as it relates to nutrient procurement and water quality. At present, we are exploring the use of stochastic life cycle assessment models to evaluate various options for algae cultivation and conversion; this is with the objective of eventually optimizing these systems to make them environmentally and economically preferable other bioenergy feedstocks.
